When it comes to risk management, what is compliance for abuse? Tracking and reporting is key to successful child abuse prevention and compliance training.

Child protection programs are not fuzzy wuzzy “feel good” programs that we implement for our PR. Make no mistake, a child protection program is a compliance initiative. The better your organization manages the implementation, tracking, reporting, and adherence to its child protection program, with the documentation to back it all up, the better off it will be if there is an allegation of child abuse against one of your organization’s people, be they employee, volunteer, or child (yes, children can hurt other children as well). 

As an insurance company VP in charge of risk assessment once told us, it is critical that an organization be able to show that it took every reasonable step to protect the victim. If the organization can provide tracking and reporting so it knows what is its compliance for abuse and to its own program, the better it will be able to face an allegation with minimal risk to the organization.
